VLOG: The Light + Fire Show at Excellence Playa Mujeres, Mexico on the Beach + Resort Favorites!

As you can probably tell, I’ve been having an absolute blast with all my recaps from our Mexican Getaway. It’s been so much fun to look back at all the photos and videos and relive our super fun + relaxing week away.

I shared on the blog the other day all about our hotel, a little room tour and a look at our hydrotherapy experience at the spa {if you haven’t seen that video yet, check it out here} I had over an hour of footage I was able to shrink down into that 13 minute video for ya, which was not easy I might add.

One thing I wanted to share with you was the Light + Fire show we got to see on our first night at the resort. It was really cool to watch, on the beach – which also happened to be the night of a White Party. The show was so fun to watch, I wanted to compile a little bit of the show for you here on the blog – I loved watching it and hope you do too:

I’ve also gotten a ton of reader questions about our stay, so I wanted to share a bit more about our visit to Excellence Playa Mujeres including some of our favorite spots.

Favorite Meal:

The food at Excellence Playa Mujeres is amazing – its one of the reasons why we were so excited to come back and another reason why everyone else repeats vacations here – the FOOD! So basically all the restaurants are incredible and there are so many to choose from but if it was up to me, I would go to Agave every night!

Agave is the Mexican restaurant – and obviously you are going to get the best Mexican food in..MEXICO! Aside from the amazing food + drinks {I could use a margarita right about now} the space is beautiful. It’s an open aired, they have live music that comes in to play and a fountain right in the middle – its a wonderful spot to enjoy a meal.

If you go – get the trio of enchiladas! Yum!

Runner Up for Favorite Eats:

Flavor Market – it’s small plates/tapas which are awesome for sharing. It has a great menu and another spot with a cool vibe.  But like I said, every restaurant is unique and wonderfully done – with fabulous service and even better eats.

Favorite Treat:

Every morning I would hit up Aroma – which is a coffee bar that also serves pastries, sandwiches, crepes + ice cream. Basically all my favorite things in one little shop. They make the absolute BEST frappacinos – I’m addicted to them. They are delicious and if you are feeling fancy, they will add in some Bailey’s too – Olè!

Favorite Spa Tip:

If you go to Excellence Playa Mujeres you HAVE to go to Mileè Spa – if not only for the Hydrotherapy experience.  I have had two treatments there and each one is better than the next. My tip for the spa would be to WAIT! Every day of your stay there are different “specials” cards left on your pillow at night – along with a calendar of events for the next day. Each day we were there the deals for the spa got better and better. We waited until the day before we left and got an amazing deal.

Also – if you plan to do the Hydrotherapy before a treatment, be sure to get there at least an hour before your spa appointment so you have enough time to enjoy the whole thing!

Favorite Drinks:

I have to say, that at an all-inclusive, it’s so much fun to try things you wouldn’t normally try. I spent the whole week trying to find “my drink” of the trip – last visit it was a Mojito. I think I ended up really loving the Sol beers, which were amazing to enjoy pool or beachside, but we did have some other amazing drinks.

I’m not a Shot person {at all} – it’s my general rule to not do shots ever {because – WHY?} BUT we made some friends at the beach and they sent us over drinks { #allinclusive } and they were DELICIOUS!

Ladies + Gentlemen: Blue Balls

Awful name, but tasty shot!

We also had shots got for us from another friendly couple called Mexican Lollipops – which I also highly recommend.

Favorite Spot:

Basically we spent all day at the beach, it was heaven. We would get there early in the morning, claim a little cabana and chairs and set up shop for the day. The waiters would immediately come by offering Bloody Mary’s or Mimosas {or beer!} and we would read all day and watch the waves come in.

Like I said – Heaven.

I wanted to point out our amazing beach because I had heard that other resorts beaches weren’t nice or clean, but this was beautiful and the water is the most beautiful blue.

Favorite Entertainment:

Each night there was a different show to enjoy and we liked having entertainment in the evening – our favorite was the White Party on the Beach with the Light and Fire show {video above!} It was so cool to see! Highly recommend putting it on your list if you are going there to stay!

Thanks for reading + for messaging with great questions. I’m so excited so many of you are planning upcoming trips to Excellence! Let me know if you have any other questions for me!
