Last night I got to get all dressed up to go to the theatre!
I was so excited to be able to come back for another show and especially this one! I remember reading this book when I was a little girl and it was one of my favorites!
How fun is it that this classic book was turned into a musical?!
If you aren’t familiar with the story: I’d HIGHLY suggest making your way over to your local library or order it online and read this book.
It’s amazing. I’m planning on picking up a copy myself to read to the boys at bedtime, I know they will LOVE IT.
A little bit about the show: Matilda is the story of the courageous little girl with an unbounded imagination who proves that despite the odds, you can do anything you put your mind to—and change your destiny.
Even though this is based on a “children’s book” it’s not a show just for kids – Children and adults alike will be delighted by this Broadway hit and winner of 16 Best Musical awards!
Fun Fact: The 1988 children’s novel of Matilda recently celebrated its 30th birthday!
And aside from the amazing storyline – Check out that gorgeous set design, I love that even the bottom of the stage was transformed into a book! Such a nice little touch, another reason why I love the Walnut Street Theatre so much.
We were treated to Box seats and it was the best way to enjoy the show – with a great view and a cute cup!
If you are looking for something fun to do with friends + family this holiday season, I HIGHLY recommend checking out Matilda – it’s a perfect show for everyone with a great message, especially this time of year.
In our family we love to do experiences rather than gifts when we can – so if you are looking for something special for that hard to buy for person, or just anyone who would love an evening out – a night at the theatre is always an amazing idea! There are TONS of great shows lined up for the rest of the 2018-2019 season – check out the full list here!
And after this amazing Matilda – Jemma Bleu Greenbaum – got done singing her heart out, I got to meet her after the show. She is dripping with talent and so amazing to watch on stage – seriously, you MUST go check her out!
Great job, Jemma!
Thanks so much to my friends at Walnut Street Theatre for an amazing night and congrats to the cast of Matilda for an incredible show!
