What to do on a Rainy Weekend in Hershey, PA – All the Kid-Friendly Activities at the Hershey Lodge, Sweet Lights and MORE!

This weekend we enjoyed what I believe to be our last visit to Hershey, PA for 2018. It’s crazy to think of all the fun we’ve had in the Sweetest Place on Earth this past year – as I’ve been blessed to be a part of the Sweetest Moms.

It’s been a whirlwind year that’s been filled with so much chocolate-covered sweet fun. The boys have had an absolute BLAST with all of our trips to Hershey. Here’s a look back at all our visits + trips to Hershey in 2018:

Our Stay at the Hotel Hershey + Room Tour / Hersheypark in the Dark / 5 Reasons You Should Stay at the Hotel Hershey / A Look Inside the WaterWorks at Hershey Lodge / Springtime in Hershey / 30+ Rides at Hersheypark {in ONE DAY!} / Summer at Hersheypark + The Boardwalk

Lots of videos in those posts, so if you want to see what Hershey is like, check ’em out!

This weekend we were looking forward to for so long – Christmas at Hershey is always the MOST FUN!

But unfortunately, it was rainy all.weekend. And taking young kiddos to the park in the cold + rain was not going to happen for me. It was a bummer to miss out on Hersheypark this visit, but I’m so excited to share with you ALL the amazing things there is to do at Hershey if the weather isn’t cooperating during your visit this Holiday season!

If you are staying overnight, I can’t suggest the Hershey Lodge enough. It’s amazing because no matter the weather, the indoor WaterWorks is incredible for kids of all ages. We checked into the hotel and went straight there on Saturday. And we woke up on Sunday morning and was there at 8am when it opened to go swimming first thing. There are water slides, a toddler area and lots of things to play with to keep entertained for HOURS.

We love it here so much, its such an amazing perk of staying overnight at Hershey and a great way to burn off energy.

Check out this video to see more of the WaterWorks in action!

Aside from the indoor waterpark, the Hershey Lodge has a great arcade and kids play room. They can play games, draw, watch movies or even play with the LEGO table. My kids did all of these things and had a blast killing some time while we waited to see if the rain would stop.

It’s nice to know you don’t have to pack a ton of toys for entertainment during down time, because the Lodge has got you covered.

Here’s a look at all the activities that were available for us at the kids all weekend at the Hershey Lodge! There was so much to do we couldn’t possibly do it all!

After having at blast at the hotel for a few hours, we made our way out to see Sweet Lights as a little Christmas treat for the boys. Since it’s an activity you drive through in your car, it’s easy to do in any weather!

This is such a cool thing they do in Hershey every year. Last year during our visit I put together a video of the Christmas fun + Sweet Lights – if you want to see it all in action, check out this post – the Sweet Lights were pretty much the same and equally awesome this year!

We got there right at 5:00 when it was opening and it was perfect because the sun was just setting and there was no line. I had heard people waited 2 hours on the Saturday before so I wasn’t taking any chances! Luckily we got to go right in and it was perfect!

I’d recommend going early or late – I think peak is around 7:00! Here are some pictures of the Sweet Lights, which the boys LOVED – but be sure to check out the video for a better look at all of the lights!

Another amazing thing that we did on our rainy weekend was OFCOURSE hit up Chocolate World!

We ALWAYS visit Chocolate World at the beginning or end to any Hershey visit. The boys LOVE the Chocolate Ride – so that’s always a go-to and we always find something else to do too. Any of these activities are perfect for a rainy day!

This time we decided to check out the 4-D Chocolate Movie, which was a lot of fun. This was the boys’ first time seeing it, so it was a big hit.

We’ve also done the Make Your Own Chocolate Bar {which is always a big hit and a great gift to take home}

Another rainy day activity would be to do the Trolley Works – it takes you all around the town and gives you a great history of all that is Hershey, PA. I’ve done it before and LOVE it – the drivers are so much fun! I’d highly recommend!

If you do stay overnight at one of the Hershey resort properties, you also get tickets, included for FREE with the cost of your stay, to the Hershey Story Museum and the Hershey Gardens! Both of which are SUPER awesome to do especially if the weather isn’t cooperating!

The boys were bummed that we didn’t actually get to Hersheypark during our visit, but we managed to have so much fun with everything else going on. If the weather cooperates for us I might try to sneak back up to Hershey before the year is over during their school break for a little extra treat. Stay tuned for that!

As you can see, there is SO MUCH for kids to do and enjoy at Hershey that doesn’t even involve Hersheypark – which is crazy! It’s such an awesome place to visit for any holiday or any occasion!

Thanks so much to all my friends at Hershey for the SWEETEST YEAR! It’s been an absolute blast being a part of the Sweetest Mom team. I can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store!

Great recap – sorry the weather didn’t cooperate for the park, but it sure looks like you didn’t miss a beat! I’ve seen the Sweet Lights and they are awesome!
