Ambler Running Club Frostbite 5 Miler

This morning I woke up early and did a little last minute 5 Mile race! The last time I did a last minute 5k I had a lot of fun!I wasn’t planning on doing any races before the two half marathons I have coming up, but my friend Jill had pre registered for this event and she has been sick so she didn’t feel like she could run it. The race was sold out, so she offered up her bib to me! After all your sweet and encouraging comments yesterday I decided to get up and run it!

It was my first AARC Frostbite 5 Miler!

Guess who else came along to see me race? JACKSON!

Snow 449 Fiancé was nice enough to wake up early on his day off and come cheer me on with Jackson! It’s always nice to have someone there with you cheering you on!

My two favorite Jersey boys!

Jackson was so happy he got to come! He made lots of new friends!

After we parked, got my race bib and made our way over to the start line, it was time to go! Did I mention I loved the fact that the race started at 9:00 am?! It was so nice out at that time! It was a little chilly at the start, but once we got going the sun was shining and it turned out to be a beautiful day!

Snow 463

And we were off! Fiancé was so good at taking pictures today! He got some good shots!

Snow 466

I was all smiles at the start.

Snow 468

Ambler was so cute to run through! I want to come back (when it’s warmer!) and frolick through all the cute stores!

Snow 469

The above picture fiancé took while he was waiting for me. I took the picture below while running. I got mad picture taking when running skills!

Snow 440

It was so nice to finally run outside! I haven’t been able to do that in a while because of all the snow! It was a nice 5 mile course through the little town and then through some back roads through some neighborhoods.

They did an awesome job making sure that there was no ice in our way! I was nervous about that, but it wasn’t a problem at all!

PS – There were lots of hills. I hate hills, but it was good that I did them today in preparation for my two half’s coming up!

Snow 441

Hark! I see a Penguin! There were tons of people running in these costumes. It was funny to see! I think Jackson needs a Penguin costume for next year!

Snow 472

And then fiancé saw me coming! This was about a quarter mile away from the finish line and at this point I just finished climbing a massive hill. I was in the zone – All business!

Snow 481

Do you see the pain in my face? I am pushing to finish HARD!

Snow 482

See you in a few fiancé, I have a race to finish!

Snow 483Snow 484

I have one word for this race: DOMINATION!

Snow 487

I have never run a 5 Mile race before, so I didn’t really have a time to beat. I ran 5 miles last week outside in 44 minutes, so I was hoping to finish around then, but I beat that time to the ground!

Snow 488

Here are my stats:

Mile 1 – 8:04.65

Mile 2- 7:59.55

Mile 3 – 7:56.63

Mile 4 – 7:41.11

Mile 5 – 7:25.65

TOTAL: 5.02 Miles39:15.10

7:49 minute mile!!! Ahhhh!

Like I said, DOMINATION! Negative splits the WHOLE WAY DOWN! I was so happy to get under 40 minutes! Jackson was so proud, he immediately starting giving me congratulations kisses!

It was an awesome race! I felt so strong and so fast. I was pushing myself the whole way, but it felt so good! I am more excited than ever for my two races next month!

I am also so happy fiancé and Jackson were there to cheer me on! Thanks for coming boys!

Running Tip – I always wear my pony tail in a braid in the back ever since the Annapolis Half Marathon where I ended up with a knotty mess in the back of my head post running!

How do you wear your race hair?

Hey! First time on the blog and I love it! I actually volunteered on the course (right at the turn about 3/4 of the way up the final hill .4 miles from the finish) and was very impressed with how hard everybody was pushing. Congrats on the PR!

haha I'm in love with the fact that you can just wake up one morning and spontaneously decide to run a 5 mile race like it's no big deal. That would take me years of training 😉 oh god, I'm so pathetic.

I rock pig tails when I run! My hair is too short to put in a pony tail!

That is so sweet that Jackson came along with his Daddy! I love it when my husband and Scruffy come to cheer me on too. I run taller and prouder knowing that they are there!

Well done on your time. That is awesome!

wow way to go on a fantastic pace!! maybe it was all that boy toy love just pushing you along!

  • Reply feetinmotion February 21, 2010 at 10:36 pm

In high school I ran with a french braid when I ran. Senior year it became a french braided bun. Now I just run with my hair in a ponytail or in a braid. 😀
