Welcome to Greece

I hope you have enjoyed our travels in Turkey – I really enjoyed sharing them with you! Next up on our honeymoon travels is Greece!

The short flight between Istanbul and Athens was pretty uneventful. Before I knew it, we were on the ground, surrounded by ruins in Athens, Greece!

We checked into our hotel and headed out to check out the city! We were staying in an amazing location and were within walking distance to all the major sights! Our first stop was the Arch of Hadrian.

The Arch provided a great sneak peak of the Acropolis!

The Arch was also right next to the Temple of Zeus, which we checked out from afar.

As you can see in the pictures above, our first day in Greece was threatening rain a bit – so Charles and I decided to head into the Plaka (which is the village below the Acropolis) and seek cover from the rain, as well as some beverages!

Charles got to taste the local beer – Mythos

And I tried some of the local wine.

We sat in the cafe and watched people walk by and dodge the raindrops. It was a relaxing afternoon!

I also enjoyed some tzatziki – my favorite Greek appetizer.

Along with a Greek salad

And some baked cheese – a recommendation from the chef.

After the rain stopped we enjoyed walking around the city. It was the perfect beginning to our time in Greece – I could tell that Athens had lots of great stuff in store for us!

Stay tuned for our trip to the Acropolis!
