Scenes from Our Moving Weekend

We did it! We officially moved into our first home this weekend.

With the help of our parents, who helped clean and organize the house from top to bottom, we are now all moved into our new place. The move went really seamlessly and I can’t tell you how amazing the guys at Mambo Movers were – they were seriously moving machines, I would recommend them to anyone!

New Home Love

It’s awesome to think that Jackson now has so much more space, including his own little backyard patio, to run around in. He is still in the process of getting used to all the stairs in the house but I know he is going to love it once it becomes more familiar to him.

It’s also amazing to think that this is where we will bring home Baby Brinks from the hospital in a few short months. He now has his own room, we even went to pick out furniture this weekend – I can’t wait to start decorating the little guys new digs. Baby boy already has some gifts, toys & clothes in his new room that are waiting for his arrival.

Did I mention we already have the best neighbors? We were greeted with a cake & donuts to welcome us to the block – such a great sign that this is the perfect neighborhood for us to start our family.

Welcome Cake

And since we were moving all weekend, and I haven’t gone grocery shopping since before our trip to Chile, we did a lot of dining out – here are some of my favorite eats:

The Hollywood – hummus, cucumber, sliced red onion, shredded carrots, avocado & pepper jack from RyBread Cafe.

Non-Fat, Decaf, Latte from OCF Coffee House – I enjoy the foam art.

More Fuel

Pumpkin Soup from Rembrandt’s.

Needless to say it was a very tasty & productive weekend. I can’t wait to share more of our new home with you as we get everything set up & organized. We still have some work to do but it’s going to be a blast to make this home our own.

Any tips & tricks for first time home owners?

Any organizational ideas to share?

Congrats!!! That is so exciting!! I think my moving/baby mommy tip would be if you plan on painting any rooms now is the time before anything is out of box especially the baby’s room. We did it around this time (well my husband did) and were able to keep the windows open for weeks until it got cool. We got like the most non-toxic non-smelling paint out there but I could swear for weeks it still smelled (ooo pregnancy). So i am glad we did it then instead of waiting.

Congrats on the move! I adore the Hollywood at Rybread as well and just tried their salads for the first time this week. I definitely recommend the Greek one.

If you haven’t bought the Baby Bargains book yet, order it online — that’ll help you figure out what you need. It was a lifesaver for me since I got so much great advice from all my gf’s, it helped me sort out what was what! And working at the Children’s Hospital in DC, I get lots and lots of valuable info from our pediatric specialists and a few of them have told me the best book to have on hand as a resource is “BABY 411”! It’s great for the Dad’s too! One even sent me a copy to my house, and she is right…it’s great and SO very helpful for first time parents!
