Chocolate Blueberry Blast Smoothie

Chocolate Blueberry Blast Smoothie

You may have noticed from my past few Baby Bump posts, that I have been on a bit of a smoothie kick lately. Not sure why but I have been loving how filling & cooling and just tasty a smoothie snack can be. The last time I posted about smoothies on the blog, many of you were surprised to learn that I was new to the whole frozen-fruit-smoothie thing! Crazy, right? Since then, frozen fruit has been a staple in my grocery store purchases every week.

So for this creation, I was inspired by Alison Sweeney’s Summer Smoothie, which was shown a while back on the Rachael Ray Show. I added a few of my smoothie staples – flax seeds & chocolate protein powder – and this is such a tasty treat, its crazy. It tastes like dessert – like a blueberry chocolate milkshake, which is amazing.

  • 2 cups fresh or slightly thawed frozen blueberries
  • 1 6-ounce container low-fat vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon flax seeds
  • 1 scoop of your favorite  chocolate protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon agave, more or less to taste

How To: Combine all ingredients in a blender. Add agave, to taste. Blend until desired consistency.

What’s Your Favorite Smoothie Combination?

In other news, this blog post  – “You’re a stay-at-home mom? What do you DO all day?” –  came across my Facebook feed this morning and I thought it was worth sharing. Check it out and let me know what you think.

My current favorite smoothie comes from Self magazine – combine 1 banana, 1 T + 1 t almond butter, 1.5 T cocoa powder, 3 oz silken tofu, 1 c. unsweetened almond milk, 1 c. ice. Blend. Not too sweet at all and fills me up until lunch.
