Baby Bump: 29 Weeks Pregnant

How far along are you? 29 weeks pregnant – only 11 weeks go to! It’s crazy to think that now we have started counting down to the due date – and even crazier to think that it’s not too terribly far away!

How I’m feeling: Feeling good aside from all.the.heartburn. It’s been pretty bad this past week, keeping me up at night and completely destroying my appetite. It’s pretty awful – I’ve gone to sleep with heartburn and woke up with heartburn, which is seriously no fun. Trying a few new remedies this week so hopefully it will get better soon.

Total weight gain: Up 13 pounds since my last appointment.

How big is baby? Baby is 2.5 pounds {the same size as Putney!} which is also the same size as a butternut squash – a little over 15 inches long from head to heel. Muscles and lungs are continuing to mature and baby’s head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. His brain is now in charge of maintaining his body temperature and controls breathing – which is pretty cool! All internal organs are starting to prepare to function on their own at birth.

Wedding Outfit

Maternity clothes: No new purchases this week but I am obsessed with the dress I wore to the wedding in Avalon we went to this weekend. I also loved wearing my halloween skeleton maternity shirt to give out candy to the trick or treaters last week too!

Halloween Outfit

Sleep: For some reason even though this weekend we gained an extra hour, both Jackson & myself didn’t get the memo and we have been getting up an hour earlier the past few days. Not sure why my body clock is backwards with that one.

Best moment this week: Getting our maternity pictures taken! I will share more of the pictures with you in another blog post but we worked with Tina of Chase and Ella this past weekend getting some maternity pictures taken with Charles, Jackson, myself and the baby bump – I saw a sneak peak of a few of the pictures and I am obsessed!

Movement: I am feeling more and more body parts moving around in my belly – earlier this week I could feel three different body areas, I believe head, butt and foot? It was crazy to get that sort of idea of how big he is in Hotel Bump. It’s crazy to sit back and watch my belly just make waves as he moves around. I believe his head is currently up and his feet and down, at least that is what it feels like from the kicks, so hopefully he will flip himself in the next few weeks!

Food cravings: Dried Cherries, Hot Chocolate, Muesli

Food aversions: Chicken

What I Miss: Not missing much this week – we have an exciting few weeks coming up and I am excited for all the fun things planned leading up to the holidays and what will be our last few weeks as a family of 3!

What I’m looking forward to:  As mentioned above we did maternity pictures this past weekend with Charles & Jackson – this coming weekend we are doing maternity pictures of just me. My photographer is working on a pregnancy series that she asked me to be a part of – which includes specific outfits and getting my hair and make-up done! Can’t wait!

Milestone: We are making decisions! We met with a pediatrician we are thinking of working with last night so hopefully that will be finalized soon. I am going on another Labor & Delivery Hospital Tour today and then hopefully will be ready to commit to where I will deliver our little guy. Charles is finishing painting the nursery this weekend and the furnutire should be arriving soon – we are really trying to get as much as we can complete before the craziness of the holidays really sets in!

Where are you thinking about delivering? I delivered my daughter and plan to deliver #2 at Pennsylvania Hospital. I just cannot say enough good things about my experience there. Everything was wonderful. Good luck choosing!

Hey Katie – deciding between Pennsylvania Hospital and Hahnemann! Thanks for the tip on your good experience! Let me know if there is anything else you think I should know!

All the nurses were AMAZING! Every nurse is an expert in breastfeeding, plus you can see lactation consultants by request. We called one in to watch and help with our latch every time the baby wanted to eat and it was a HUGE help.

The facilities were great (we booked a Pavilion room, which guarantees private rooms- although now I heard they guarantee private rooms for all- but Pavilion rooms are like hotel rooms, with special goodies and gourmet food! Extra charge but I loved it). Because we were guaranteed this nice private room my husband could stay in the room with us, which was very important to us. They don’t have a nursery so the baby stays with you all the time. That’s exactly what I wanted.

I had a great birth experience overall. For a first time mom it went incredibly quickly and I didn’t end up with any drugs, which was what I wanted beforehand but I was open to meds if need be. The nurses were all so, so helpful. I had a great recovery and consider myself very lucky. We’ll be going back there in April for #2!

I’m blown away that we only have 11 weeks until the arrival of our sweet little man! So glad that you are getting all your ducks in a row regarding hospital choice, pediatrician, etc. Can’t wait to see the nursery all painted with furniture in it!

Well, of course, I’m biased toward Pennsylvania Hospital because all three of my children were born there and it’s historic. It was the first hospital in the USA, founded by Ben Franklin et al. But I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the major hospitals in the Center City area. Can’t wait to see the pics from the photo shoot!
