No Bake for the Holidays #LearnAndConserve

It’s time for more #LearnAndConserve challenge fun! I hope you enjoyed my tips for winterizing your home, Charles & I have been working really hard to make sure we are being as efficient as possible with our energy use this Winter, but I must admit it’s pretty hard when we want to keep the Christmas tree lit 24/7!

Challenge #2 – No Bake for the Holidays

Food is one of the best part of the holidays, but you may be surprised that we can be energy smart while cooking up your holiday favorites. For instance, turn the temperature down 25 degrees when using glass or ceramic pans – your food will cook just as quickly – and check on the food through the oven window – not by opening the door – that can decrease the temperature, which will increase cooking time and energy usage.

For Challenge #2 we have been asked to cook without our ovens or microwaves as much as possible over the next two weeks. Kind of overwhelming when I think of all the holiday entertaining we have on our schedule, especially with Christmas on the calendar next week – But I am up for the challenge.

I have been doing lots of surfing the internet to find the best no bake recipes – I am sorry to say that I don’t really have any no bake recipes to share from my food page – but there are SO MANY amazing recipes out there to choose from! My favorite category being in the dessert category! It seems to be that the no bake recipes can be more energy efficient but still tasty and delicious holiday treats!
