Two Months with Baby Brooks

two months

I feel like I am going to say this every month, but I seriously can’t believe another 4 weeks has flown by! Time is going by too fast, and this was another fun month with our little man.

8 weeks

I can’t handle that double chin.

Or that pouty lip!

Over the past 4 weeks he’s become such a funny little guy and his personality is coming out more and more each week – I love it!

Here’s what’s been going on during Brooks’ 2nd month –

6 and 8 weeks

Growth – I feel like he has changed so much in two months, and gotten so big in the past 4 weeks, but then at the same time he still feels so small. I think he’s around 12.5/13 pounds now, we will find out for sure at his appointment next week! During our one month visit he was 10.2 pounds, in the 50th percentile for weight and 22.5 inches, in the 70/80th percentile for height – it will be fun to see how much he’s grown in a month!

Feeding – We are still going strong with breastfeeding, it has become sort of second nature to me at this point, and I am very happy to report that – We aren’t on any real schedule, I feed him when he’s hungry and for the most part, he let’s me know when that is.  I still favor my right side because my left side gets sore very easily but we are in a great routine at this point and I feel really good about it. As of this past week he has gone up to feeding every 3 – 3.5 hours or so, which is awesome – sometimes he goes longer, sometimes shorter but for the most part, that’s where we are. I am also pumping for Charles to give Brooks a bottle once a day, so Brooks gets used to eating with a bottle as well – and storing breast milk for a rainy day whenever I can.

Sleeping – Most nights I manage to get a 4-5 hour sleep stretch out of Brooks, which is pretty great. The hardest part in terms of Brooks’ sleeping is me getting to sleep after he falls asleep – he’s a loud sleeper and makes crazy noises during the night that keep me up but I love being able to look over the side of the bed and check on him. At this point he is still in his pack & play next to my side of the bed. It makes it easy for nighttime feedings and I’m not ready for him to go to his own room yet – but I have been trying to put him in his crib during daytime naps.

For my own sanity I still try to go up to bed for an extra 2 hours at night & Charles gives him his last bottle for the day – it’s a great way for me to get some sleep without the baby in the room. During the day Brooks takes a bunch of cat naps ranging from 10 minutes to an hour or so, but it’s hard to get any consistency out of it, which makes it hard to get things done during the day, but I do what I can when I can and we are cool with that.

Clothes – He outgrew his newborn clothes after the first month and since then he has mostly been wearing size 0-3 months. Luckily I didn’t buy any newborn clothes, I got a bag of them from a neighbor for free so I didn’t feel bad when he wasn’t in them for long, but he needed them that first month!

It’s been so fun to shop & dress a baby boy – I honestly didn’t think I would like it as much as I do!

This past month he has been such a happy, smiley little guy. He loves looking at ceiling fans & different lights and he is obsessed with looking at himself in the mirror – we go from room to room making faces in the different mirrors and he looks at himself and looks and me and giggles. Whenever I say “Give us a Smile” in my weird baby voice, he usually humors me and gives a little somethin’ somethin’ – and his smile is obviously the best thing in the entire world.

He’s also become so much more active. He loves flailing his arms and legs about and has become a pro at holding his head up {most of the time}. Brooks loves playing on his activity mat and really enjoys listening to music – we jam out to the Disney pandora station on a daily basis. Most days he is a perfect baby still {knock on wood}, really only crying when he is hungry and has a diaper but we do of course have the bewitching hours and a day here and there where he really only wants to be held. Honestly I can’t complain about any of it – he has made being a new mom very easy.

Brooks also enjoys being held in his baby carriers – whether we are taking Jackson for a walk or doing things together around the house. It’s so fun to have him attached to me while also being {more or less} hands free. I’m wearing him, standing at the kitchen table while typing this now – he’s passed out & I’m getting something done, we both win!

Here we are wearing the Pikkolo {in black, below} and Mei Tai {in green, above} carriers – Can’t say enough good things about them both, I love them!

All in all it was another amazing month and a fabulous 8 weeks with Brooks. He is the perfect little gentleman and I can’t wait to continue to watch him grow and change – I know I continue to fall more in love with him each and every day!

Love reading your posts about your baby boy. Where did you get the blue chair that he is sitting in and what is your opinion on it?

How did Brooks 2 month appointment go with his vaccinations? Was he okay afterwards? My baby’s is coming up and I know I’m going to cry!

He was ok after Nicole – a little fussy because I think he was a little sore – one shot in each thigh! It was hard to change him that night because I knew his legs hurt a bit. But he never got a fever or anything! He was a trooper and nursed while they gave him the shots – the first one he didn’t even notice!
