I have been on a bit of a stroller kick this week!  Yesterday morning I jumped out of bed with the hopes of planning Brooks’ feeding schedule around a workout class that we could do together – Stroller Strides!

I found out about this workout from another mom group that I am in and I was immediately intrigued. As you may know, working out with a stroller is a serious workout in itself since the stroller + carseat + baby can add some pretty heavy resistance to your workout. But I was excited to meet other mom’s in the area and just be out and about getting some sun & fresh air with my little man. Add in some sweet calorie burn to the mix and it’s a pretty awesome morning if you ask me!
Stroller Strides

Stroller Strides is a total fitness program that moms can do with their babies. It includes power walking/running and intervals of strength and body toning exercises using exercise tubing, the stroller and the environment. Another fun little perk of the class is the instructor weaves songs and activities into the routine designed to entertain and engage baby, while moms are led through a series of exercises. We did squats and lunges while singing the ABC’s – it was fun & the older kids in the group loved watching their moms! Even though Brooks slept through the class, it was still nice to see the class being made fun for the kids and the moms!

The class was from 9:30 – 10:30 in the morning and it included cardio, strength training, ab work and stretching – this class was no joke, it was a great workout that touched upon all the different areas of our body and got in some awesome cardio as well.  

Stroller Workout

There are tons of Stroller Strides locations all over the country, I’m excited that I found one so close to me! We ended up taking a class that was 1.5 miles from our house so adding that run/walk to and from class made my morning a very active one!

I have been on the hunt for workout classes that I am able to bring my little man too – I know there are some classes/gyms that offer childcare during class, but for me I still feel he is a little young for that & I would like to keep him with me if possible – that’s why I really liked my Stroller Strides experience.

Did I mention the FIRST CLASS IS FREE!?

I love it when that happens. It’s so awesome to be able to try out different classes without the initial commitment, especially with a new baby & my schedule is sort of all over the place at this point. The Philadelphia Stroller Strides chapter is also in the process of opening another location next month, which will be a little closer for me & I am looking forward to that. So far they workout at 25th & Spruce, 21st & Chestnut, Queen Village & at {coming soon!} Sister Cities.

I had a great experience at my first Stroller Strides class & I can’t wait to go back again!
