Body, Mind & Spirit {7 Months} After Baby

This blog used to be all about me, right?

Well, and my little dog too.

I feel like it’s been a while since I checked in on the blog and shared a little update on ME! I’ve been doing tons of baby updates {because I’m obsessed with my little one}, reviews and other posts lately, but today I just wanted to check in with you and share how I’ve been doing 7 months post baby.



I feel really good about where I am 7 months postpartum.  A few weeks ago I tried on all the pants I had put aside after labor & delivery that were WAY too tight due to my hips expanding and they all fit again, which is amazing. It’s amazing to think what a few months will do in terms of getting your body back to what it was before giving birth. I know breastfeeding has had A LOT to do with the fact that I dropped most of my pregnancy weight fairly quickly after Brooks’ birth. It’s a crazy thing because it makes me hungry all.the.time. and I need to eat all.the.time. but for some reason, feeding another growing tiny human gets those calories burning!

I also think the last few pounds I have still to go is all hanging out in my boob region, and will remain there until I stop nursing. But I’m cool with that for the moment, because my pants fit & that’s what really matters {since my pants are cute & we are going into fall where I will be needing said pants.}


Where I am currently struggling is to get back into a exercise routine of some sort. I’ve been doing a ton of walking all around the city – Brooks LOVES to be outside, and so do I – so we have been out and about during the day as much as we can. I love my running stroller and we go out with that a few times a week but I am looking for something a little more. I do core workouts at home during tummy time but I’ve been on the hunt for a new {to me}, fun class I could do with the little man.  I know a class with the babe won’t be anything crazy intense, but I’m looking to change things up a bit. I also have my mother-in-law who comes over once a week to watch Brooks and while I always tell myself I’m going to go to a class during that time, I always end up having to go grocery shopping or run errands, which are much easier to do sans baby.

Any ideas to help get me out of my workout rut?



I think because my body is feeling good, being *somewhat/almost* back to normal {or as normal as I can ever expect it to be after birthing a human}, my mind is feeling pretty good too. I love my new job as a stay at home mom – it’s the hardest job in the world, I expect I’ve had it pretty easy so far – but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Summer has come and gone very quickly, but slowly at the same time. I feel like I blinked my eyes and it was over but Brooks has seriously come so far and changed so much in the past 3-4 months – that short time makes a big difference in the first year of a baby’s life! I feel like we are in a groove together now, with each other and with our days, it’s a good place to be.

Some friends have asked how I like staying home & I can honestly say that I love it. I have enough friends in the city that aren’t working or work odd hours that we have playdates with other moms & babes all the time. I’ve also met some new mom friends in the neighborhood and it’s been great to make new friends. I make an effort every day to get out and about and explore the city – we don’t sit around at home by any means, we always have things to do and places to be – that makes it fun for both of us. I’ve tried to stay very mobile & active with Brooks since the beginning so he’s used to it and adapts well.

Our lives are definitely different now since having a baby {duh, right?!} but I wouldn’t change it for the world. There are things Charles & I have adapted to, in terms of having a child and our flow of life is slower, which is a good thing. Brooks is a fun baby to be around & I’m sort of obsessed {duh}. This attachment on my end might be a bit of a problem when I leave him for the first time overnight at the end of the month {hold me}.

So that’s my little check-in for you on how I am doing at the moment. I’m excited for Fall – cozy sweaters, skinny jeans and boots! – and for the colder weather to make it’s way into Philly. We have a busy few months coming up, things don’t slow down for us much but I’m excited & continuing to soak up my baby’s first year!

    Your little boy is so handsome! Congrats on being a new mom (since I just found your blog today) and for stay-at-home with your son. Being a full-time mom is the hardest job but the most rewarding, too!

    I’m so glad I found your blog on the For Two Fitness page. It’s nice to be able to relate to another new-ish stay-at-home mom who love fitness, too!

    I LOVE this post! Baby updates are important (and adorable), but checking in on mama is important too! It’s amazing how the body can change so quickly throughout pregnancy and then postpartum. You’re looking great and you seem to have a very healthy attitude as well!

    Congrats on feeling back to normal! I think you should just devote 2 days a week for yourself or working out with a buddy. You’ll feel refreshed and ready to tackle the world of mother-hood. That sure worked for me when I was a stay at home mom! Try a zumba class – fun and a great workout! P.S. You look great! Keep your positive attitude!
