A Longwood Christmas

********WARNING: Super Long Post alert with WAY Too Many Pictures Ahead / You’ve Been Warned & Please Enjoy ********

This past week Brooks & I met up with my parents at Longwood Gardens to enjoy A Longwood Christmas. I haven’t been to Longwood Gardens in YEARS – I went years ago in college with my parents for a Parent’s Weekend and Charles & I hit up the Christmas display once before, but it’s really been what felt like forever, so I was excited when my parents said they wanted to come up for the day to see the sights -> obviously, Brooks and I were pumped to join them!

Apparently each year there is a different theme with the decorations – and I didn’t see this sign until we were on our way out, or notice the similarities within all the beautiful displays, but this year the holiday decorations were bird-inspired. It was a really beautiful theme & Longwood did an amazing job, check it out:

We first enjoyed a walk inside the Conservatory. This place was huge & heated {to keep all the plants alive!}  – it was a nice break from the cold weather outside for sure! Brooks and I were at Longwood for over 5 hours with my parents walking around inside and out and we didn’t even get to see all of the inside of the Conservatory. The place is huge! Here are a few of my favorite sights inside it:

Apparently Longwood changes out the plants and themes monthly – as everything is donated from local nurseries. So cool that they change everything so frequently! We will actually be back here next month for Brooks’ One Year photo session, so I can’t wait to see how different it looks!

Brooks really enjoyed the water fountain display – he sat and watched it for a while and we sat and enjoyed the rest!

There was also a really beautiful music room that was decorated incredibly. It had a party setting and I loved all the colors, with the hints of feathers & subtle bird references!

After walking around the Conservatory for a while we headed out to grab lunch, followed by a walk around the outside areas of Longwood. This was timed perfectly with Brooks’ nap – so he snoozed away all bundled up and cozy while we explored the grounds.

We also got to check out the new Meadows walkway area – it was nice but I’m sure the views are so much better in the Spring! Would love to come back and check it out then for sure! meadowsmeadowornaments copytreehouse tree

Before Brooks and I left for the day we ended up sitting in on a nice sing-a-long that takes place a few times a day during the holiday season. We got to hear a really cool organ play and listen to some of our favorite holiday tunes. Brooks loves music so this was a nice chance to sit and relax for a bit!

We weren’t able to stay for the main event – the lights at night – because I didn’t want to mess with Brooks’ bedtime routine or traffic, so we headed out around 3 and it worked out perfectly. Brooks took a mini snooze session in the car and we were home with plenty of time for dinner and to relax a bit before little man went to sleep.

It was such a fun day & Longwood does a beautiful job keeping their grounds gorgeous. I can’t wait to go back again next year & show Brooks all the lights at night! Here are a few more photos from our day at Longwood Gardens ->
