Got Blueberries?

“I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council. I received a stipend to facilitate my purchase for my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.”

FRUIT

Blueberries are hands down one of my favorite fruits.

Blueberries are delicious, beautiful, healthy, simple, and versatile. They are little blue dynamos and whether you’re cooking, snacking or pursuing healthy habits, adding blueberries is an easy way to add a healthy twist to your meal.

I love to think about blueberries when I am thinking about my 2015 resolutions and overall goals for the next year. For me, small changes over time can lead to big results – especially when you are thinking about healthy living. Little changes and alterations in your diet and lifestyle are more attainable and sustainable and just overall less intimidating! Smaller things like drinking more water or incorporating more blueberries into your diet are great little changes to make in order to live a healthier in 2015 and beyond.YOGURT

I think blueberries are super versatile and easy to incorporate into my diet on a daily basis – especially on days when I am feeling like my fruit and vegetable intake is lacking! I love adding them to my morning yogurt or even using them as a topping on mini waffles – which is one of Brooks’ current favorite breakfast foods!

I’m also a HUGE fan of  my Chocolate Blueberry Blast Smoothie is an all-time favorite of mine!

Some fun facts about blueberries:

  • Some think of blueberries as purely a summertime fruit, but thanks to our friends in South America, blueberries are in season all year-round.
  • The domestic blueberry season runs from April to September, and once that wrap up, imports from Chile, Peru and Argentina start flowing in. So you can always find juicy plump blueberries in the supermarket just like you do all summer.BLUE BERRIES
  • Other forms of blueberries are great too! You can stock up on frozen or freeze-dried berries to use when you can’t get to the store to buy fresh.
  • Blueberries have just 80 calories per serving (one cup).
  • With 3.6 grams of fiber per serving, blueberries help you meet your daily recommended intake of fiber.
  • Blueberries contribute vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, vitamin K and manganese, making them a good choice to help meet nutrient needs.
