This weekend we celebrate Brooks’ First Birthday with family and friends! Today I wanted to share some photos from little man’s big day with you!
Getting ready for this party was a little crazy. We wanted to invite so many people, but living in a row home in the city, we don’t have the most space. So we went back and forth about where to have this party but eventually it made the most sense to have the party at home.
This party was weirdly enough a little bit of a challenge for me because I’ve never thrown a birthday party for kids before! Ha! And most of the kids we invited – I think we had 11 little ones running around at one point – Brooks was the second youngest. So I’m not really too sure what the older ones are eating or into or even like to do at parties. In the future I’m sure we will have birthday parties at kid friendly places, but for this one I wasn’t sure what to expect or do!
For kids entertainment we decided to go with a balloon guy! We used Balloons by Jim and I can’t say enough good things about him! He kept the kids entertained, was great for little ones of all ages – and the adults loved him too! Jim also did an awesome job with the balloon sculptures – everything looked great!
Seriously, check out that gladiator helmet! Brooks and all the other little ones were totally into it! I would totally use Jim again!
What sort of entertainment do you use at your little ones parties?
Aside from the balloon entertainment, the main event of the day was the cake! I got the cake from wegmans & they gave Brooks a free birthday cupcake that matched the cake – which I thought was really cute.
Little man did a birthday cake smash earlier last week – check out a preview photo here – so I was excited to see him in action again with a birthday cupcake.
Seriously, how is it that this little bundle of joy was in my belly 52 weeks ago and now we have the perfect little smiley, happy gentleman on our hands!? He’s grown so much in the past year and time has just flown by at warp speed.
Since we were having the party at our house, and it was a kids birthday party, I wanted to decorate accordingly. I ended up finding some sweet decorations that were totally my style at Party City that were being discontinued – so I scored pretty much all the banners for $2 each.
I also decided to print a bunch of my favorite pictures of Brooks over the past year – I used this Photo Holder to showcase our holiday cards and it was so fun to feature pictures of my little man for our guests to check out!
I also printed out my favorite Instagram photos of Brooks & taped them up to the fridge! I sort of want to leave them up forever!
I wish I took more party pictures of everyone but with 40+ people & kids running around it was a little hectic, but it was a lot of fun and worth all the craziness getting everything ready beforehand! I can’t wait for next year when he is walking around – going to be a much different party for sure! Ha!
Now it’s your turn to share:
How do you make your little one’s birthday special?
