7 Months Pregnant with Baby #2

7 months

How far along am I: Officially 8 months pregnant TODAY {aka 31 weeks!} as per my favorite little calendar. I find myself always talking in months now this pregnancy, as opposed to with bump #1 where I would talk in weeks constantly. And if you aren’t pregnant or haven’t been pregnant recently, it’s not always the easiest to do the math when talking in weeks. But I do still feel like 8 months makes it seem like my due date is closer than it really is – 9 weeks still feels like forever away. ALSO – It’s crazy to think that we are now in the single digit week countdown! Where did the time go?

How I’m feeling: Not so great. Feeling hot and large. Being this pregnant in this summer is no fun at all. I don’t feel that huge, but then I’m bumping into things with my belly and when I look in the mirror or see a side-view photo of myself, I surprise myself with my largeness! I feel like the bump has seriously popped the last few weeks – little man is growing for sure!

Total weight gain: I went in to the doctors this week but to be honest I haven’t been paying too much attention to the scale or what they tell me the numbers are. I believe I’m around 15/18 pounds gained, which I feel fine about. I think it’s a little more than where I was last time, but I know that for the most part, it’s all in the belly. I eat what I want when I want it and I spend my whole day chasing around after a little man – he keeps me moving, if you can believe it!

How big is baby: At 31 weeks baby is around 3-3.5 pounds – about the size of a coconut, a pineapple or 4 naval oranges – he can now gain about a half a pound a week from now until birth! Yikes – I feel like we are going to seriously run out of room in Hotel Bump! Baby’s bones are hardening and all 5 sense are in working order too! We are coming down to the wire for sure!

Maternity clothes: I’ve stopped buying maternity clothes and for the most part, stopped buying clothes in general. I am ready to get rid of everything in my closet and start fresh, but I know that isn’t realistic, but I’m at that point where I just want to clean and organize EVERYTHING – especially my closet. But I can’t try anything on for real so there isn’t much of a point in even trying. The few random things I have picked up have been for post-baby, loose & nursing friendly pieces that I will be able to transition from fall to winter.

Stretch marks: Don’t think so.

On Sleep: I am exhausted by the time we put Brooks down at 7pm every night. My feet and back and everything is seriously feeling it at the end of every day. But once B is down for the night, there is still lots to do! I am trying to give myself some down time at the end of the day to go up and relax a bit before going to sleep, but even though I’m so tired, I find I can’t fall asleep as fast as I would wish & then my mind starts racing with my crazy to-do lists! Hoping to bank up some more sleep this next month, because I know I will need it with those newborn days!

30 weeks

Baby Movement: Little man is moving all the time. His head is down towards my left leg and I feel his shoulder jabbing and punching me all day long. He gets extra heavy and low towards the end of the day – I’m thinking about getting one of those belly support bands, because I’m seriously feeling his extra weight on me. Anyone have luck with those or can recommend a good one?

Food cravings: Ugh. I want everything and nothing at the same time. I’m sick of eating the same thing I usually eat, but I don’t have the energy or effort to want to make much else. Also my heartburn has been a real killer, especially at the end of the day – so much so that some days I don’t even want dinner. Loosing my appetite a bit unless complete meals are put right in front of me, then I will eat every morsel.

Food aversions: Everything and nothing still. Depends on the mood, the day, my heartburn, and the heat!

Belly button in or out: Out! So crazy how quick that happened this time. It’s so weird!

What I miss: Not having constant heartburn, not having to pee every 5 minutes, being able to sleep through the night without having to get up to pee every 5 minutes.

Best moment this Month: Going through all Brooks’ old newborn/baby clothes and sorting everything for his little brother to wear! I love all Brooks’ little outfits so it’s so much fun to be able to look forward to another little one wearing them!

What I’m looking forward to: Setting up Brooks’ Big Boy room and making the nursery Baby #2’s new home. We have started mapping out what furniture we want and have started some of the transition of getting rid of things here and there – the big move for setting up everything is going to be in the beginning of August – I can’t wait to get everything set up!

Milestone: The milestone for me this month is that panic is sort of starting to set in. Not sure if that’s necessarily a good thing, but it’s getting my butt in gear to get everything moving along in preparation for our new little one. I’m doing double stroller research & toddler bed research and shopping for furniture while taking inventory of all the baby things we have & love, things we can get rid of and anything else we may need {we borrowed a ton with B but everyone we borrowed from is having more babies! ha!} Things are getting real with t-minus 9 weeks to go {and I have a funny feeling this one isn’t going to be late to the party, like Brooks!}

It’s very hard for your mother to realize that you only have 9 weeks until we can hold your Sweet Bundle of Joy – you look great and don’t stress out what you need to do – everything will fall into place!

I am sure you have mentioned it before, but what carrier are you using in the pic with Brooks on your back?

Ashley – It’s a CatBirdBaby wrap! Love it! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks, do you have a link of the specific wrap? I searched a bit but couldn’t find that version!

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT transition Brooks into a toddler bed just because baby is coming. The longer he’s in a crib the easier the adjustment and your life will be. My aunt always said the only people excited about the transition from crib to bed are first time moms. 🙂

Audra – Already all over that! We are getting another crib for B that will eventually transition into a toddler bed. He sleeps so well in the crib right now, i’m not messing with that! But I do think the second we buy something else, he’s going to start crawling out! Ha! We shall see!

You look amazing!! You are all baby, and that is it. Love reading these posts 🙂

I second the no transition to bed. Also, I have a city select and love it for its versatility, and baby jogger summit double for jogging and love that, too. There are so many out there it’s hard to know what to get! I really liked being able to have my second baby in a car seat in the stroller.
