On {Second} Pregnancy Ailments

“This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and healthy mama® , but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #gethealthymama  http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

Being pregnant for the second time with a one year old {almost 1.5 year old!} has it’s challenges. When I was pregnant with Brooks it was a really special time because it was all about me {and the little one inside} and I could really take the time to take care of any needs or ailments.

Now, I’m chasing around after my little man – all day, every day – whether I feel up to it or not. In the beginning, during this second pregnancy, it was so challenging for me. I was so sick this time around – with Brooks I just felt hungover, with baby #2 I was physically ill. Which is fine if you can take some time to take care of yourself, but not if your full time job is to chase after a toddler all day, like mine.

With bump #1, if I felt sick or tired, I could lay down.

With bump #2, if I feel sick or tired, I have to suck it up and keep moving!

Spoiler Alert: There is no reasoning with a one year old.

Luckily, eventually the sickness did subside and I started to feel way better. The second trimester was much more enjoyable for me. I felt better, had more energy and the bump wasn’t o substantial.

NOW in my third trimester, everything is different, yet again.

I’m not feeling sick {which is a bonus} but my energy is definitely low, heartburn is on constant attack and my bump is large {and in charge}. I think being pregnant in the winter with Brooks vs the summer with #2 has also been a big change for me {I plan on doing a full post sharing that experience soon – stay tuned!}

The heat + the big bump + the heartburn + the fatigue have me struggling right now, and I know it’s going to be a rough next few weeks. But I know those are small pregnancy woes in the grand scheme of things, and I’m grateful for that. But it is a whole new world this second time around in the pregnancy world but either way, when I’m really feeling my growing bump and everything that comes along with it, it’s still more fun to be chasing after my favorite little man, soaking up our last few weeks of just us two.

How has your first pregnancy compared to your second?

Speaking of pregnancy ailments, it’s so fun being a pregnant blogger + getting to try out new things. This past week I was given the opportunity to test out healthy mama® – which is the first brand to offer pregnant and nursing mamas a complete line of safe and effective wellness solutions for those times when they feel a little less than “glowing.” Which has been pretty much 100% of the time for me this second time around!

I was pretty pumped to try out the Boost it Up! Protein energy drink because it’s the perfect little afternoon snack that I need when Brooks wakes up from his nap and I’m starting to drag, but we still have the whole rest of the day to run around together!  Some of the other products in the healthy mama® lineup at Target include:  Shake the ache / Move it along / Tame the flame {my heartburn BFF!} / Nip the nausea / Be Well Rounded!™ / Calm the Crazy! / Make the Milk!

All these new products are helping create a new category at Target for Prenatal/Postnatal Care and they are all united under one brand. Along with my Boost It Up, I also picked up Make the Milk! as a little somethin’ somethin’ in the tea category for when after the baby gets here to help keep my milk supply in check. I drank something similar last time and really liked the taste so I hope I like this one when the time comes too! I can’t have it yet because it’s not for pregnant mamas, but I do know that it smells pretty good!

My favorite part about the healthy mama® brand is that it has created a new category/creating an area in retail that doesn’t exist. Going through this a second time now, I know how important it is to be able to find products that are safe to take during pregnancy when you aren’t feeling that pregnancy glow and need a little something to take the edge off!

a little more information on healthy mama® ’s mission:

I’m actually so glad to hear more about your experience being pregnant with #2 because I’m struggling through my first trimester with my 2nd right now and everything just feels harder this time with another little guy to be taking care of! I’m waiting and hoping the 2nd trimester brings more energy.

These products sounds great, I def want to check them out! What section are they in at target?

Thanks Melissa! Congrats to you as well! Everything is so much harder, I’m finding, the second time around! I’ll be posting more about this in the coming weeks! Stay tuned!

And the healthy mama products are in the pre-post natal section in Target – by the Pharmacy!

I can certainly vouch that pregnancies the 2, 3 and more times around are so very different because you can never focus on yourself any longer. I hope you can power through the last weeks and feel good!
