What I Learned From Two Weeks on the Jenny Craig Program

Thank you Jenny Craig for sponsoring this post. — Get serious about losing weight with Jenny Craig!

Hello! I’m back to share with you my how my two weeks on the Jenny Craig program went! I know I shared with you when I was a week into it all, check out that recap here. But I finished the second week and have worked my way back into the ‘real world’ of eating this past week – so I thought it would be fun to do a little update + recap on the blog.

It was so awesome to be able to try out Jenny Craig – I needed a little reboot after the New Year and with the kids it’s not always easy to put myself and my health goals first, as much as I may try. I had an awesome experience and I wanted to share with you a few things I learned from being on the program:

#1 – The Jenny Craig food is awesome.

Seriously, the Jenny Craig food is amazing. So tasty and delicious, I was never hungry. Honestly, never hungry. You get to have a ton of food everyday, and even though I was only on a 1200 calorie a day plan, I always had something to snack on and I had to spread out my meals during the day because there was so much to eat! Tons of food on the meal plan list, various snacks throughout the day, desserts and endless vegetables and ‘Free Food’ I could enjoy during the day. Yum!

#2 I have {had?} a snacking issue.

So from being on the program for 2 weeks, I really became more mindful of how much mindless snacking I would do each and every day. From snacking on the boys snacks, to nibbling on the meals they didn’t finish, do just throwing something to eat in my mouth because it was there, when I wasn’t even hungry.

They say it takes two weeks to develop a new habit and I think making the change to be more intentional with my snacks, grabbing for the vegetables or fruit to munch on if instead of the chips and cheese has so far stuck with me. I’ve been making that change and it feels really good!

#3 Portion Control.

Initially the meal sizes I was being given seemed really small, I was used to just filling up my plate with whatever, sometimes going back for seconds. Chasing around the boys makes me hungry! BUT I’ve learned that I don’t need to fill my plate to really enjoy my meal and still be full. I’ve also started having a glass of water before and after a meal to ward off the not full feeling that can sometimes linger when you want to keep eating, even when you are already full. Again, being more intentional about the size of my meals along with the frequency.

#4 I missed cooking

While the Jenny Craig food is amazing, I am someone that loves to cook and enjoys making meals for my family. It was hard to keep cooking for everyone else, and not myself, but at the same time, it was easier to have my meals already done, portioned and ready to go – totally a life saver on days when I might have ended up skipping a meal. But for someone who is just cooking for themselves or wants to do the program solo or with their significant other, this could be a great option for everyone to have a break and get back on track.

#5 Jenny Craig Works!

Clearly, cutting the calories will help you loose weight. I lost about 7 lbs. in 2 weeks, and so far I’ve been able to keep it all off {even with Brooks’ Birthday craziness this past weekend! } I am so happy with how it all worked out and even though I know my body, I’m aware of what food to eat, and I know how to loose weight – I consider myself a very informed person in that regards, but Jenny Craig made it so easy for me that I didn’t have to think about anything, which made the whole experience that much more enjoyable, and doable for a busy mom!

Results not typical. Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lose 1-2 lbs. per week. I received promotional consideration.

Some more fun facts: With the Jenny Craig program, I loved checking in with someone – my consultant, Barbara was constantly cheering me on, motivating me, keeping me on track and sharing new ideas to change things up! The focus of this program is for members to develop a healthy relationship with food, build an active lifestyle and create a more balanced approach to living.  The goal is that they understand and overcome the internal/external challenges to healthy eating, identify enjoyable ways to move more, learn positive coping strategies and reframe their beliefs and attitudes to better support their weight management goals. And being serious about losing weight doesn’t mean you have to give up enjoying the foods you love.  Jenny Craig has more than 100 menu items, where 40 professional chefs make all the difference! All the yummy eats!

If you are thinking about changing up your diet, be sure to give Jenny Craig a try! Nothing to loose but weight!

This post resonated with me so much! I just wrote a post about Treating Food as Fuel. I’d love for you to check it out: http://www.goaloflosing.com/2017/02/treating-food-as-fuel.html

I can totally relate to trying not to eat the kid’s wasted food. I feel so bad wasting it, but as I mentioned in my post, I am not a garbage can!

Also, why do their snacks have to taste so good? I have a serious problem staying away from my daughter’s animal crackers… haha

Leslie, I just started Jenny Craig 3 days ago. I have to admit the food is great. I too still cook for my husband and tomorrow will be a test for me. We are going out to dinner with friends. I plan to eat my JC meal first and just order a side salad and vegetable at the restaurant. I started 3 weeks ago changing my eating habits and spreading my meals over the day like they tell you and lost 3 pounds, and in the last 3 days another 1.5 pound. Anxious to see where my two weeks takes me. Good luck and keep up the great work..

Hello. I am interested in the program, but I am lactose intolerant and very hard to eat and be on a diet. Are Jenny Craig foods made for people like me? Thank you.
